About Us. Drugs & Diagnostics for Tropical Diseases (DDTD; is a 501c3 non-profit research organization with a mission to discover new treatments and diagnostics for diseases that predominantly affect impoverished populations. Our lead product is a rapid diagnostic test to generate maps of Loa loa, a  parasitic worm affecting over 10 million people. The diagnostic is currently completing field tests in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Gabon and the maps will assist the WHO and its affiliates in eliminating different worm-based diseases. DDTD was created in 2011, has four employees, and is located at 4898 Ronson Ct., Ste C, San Diego, CA 92111.

Background.  Every non-profit registered in the state of California is governed by a Board of Directors comprising at a minimum a President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. Our Treasurer has served faithfully for many years and now wishes to dedicate his time to other opportunities.

Position. We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. His or her primary responsibility will be to ensure that the organization follows sound fiscal procedures and complies, from a financial standpoint, with all legal requirements. DDTD uses a professional CPA to prepare financial statements and tax returns. The Treasurer shall review and approve financial statements once a month and tax returns once a year. The Treasurer shall present these documents at each meeting of the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Treasurer shall work with the President to create budgets and allocate resources when the organization receives grants and sizable donations.

Availability, terms of appointment, and expected commitment. The position is available immediately. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension. The Treasurer is expected to dedicate on average 2 hours of his/her time every month and to be present at every board meeting, which are scheduled once a quarter. The position is not remunerated and the Treasurer is expected to serve on a volunteer basis.

Qualifications. The Treasurer must be familiar with financial statements, and must be able to read them and interpret them rapidly. A background in accounting (CPA) or finances is required. Familiarity with tax-returns for non-profits is desired but not mandatory. Similarly, a background in biotechnology, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical companies is welcome but not required. Self-motivation, excellent communication, and impeccable interpersonal skills are a must.
